There are a variety of prescribed courses of walking within the sacred space of the vedi. In this discussion of the ZB, the associations with the Gaayatrii are central. Fundamental associations with the directions and physical orientation of the altar itself. Two are listed below:

ZB 2.3.3.13 establishes the fundamental point of entry to the space--from the east, and the course therefrom between the aahavaniiya and the gaarhapatya with it's corresponding significations. While walking this course, the yajamaana recites the Gaayatrii.

ZB 2.3.4.39 the approach to the aahavaniiya, the gaarhapatya and the significations of the east with the recitation of the Gaayatrii.
